Under Decreto Legislativo N° 1350 (Ley de Migraciones), “Estudiante” is classified as a Residence migratory quality, reflecting its longer-term nature compared to tourism or business travel. Applicants typically apply for the visa at the Peruvian Consular Office in their country of residence before travel — for Indian nationals, this is the Embassy of Peru in New Delhi — and the visa is valid for the duration of the study programme, up to a maximum period. Students intending to remain in Peru must also register their status with the Superintendencia Nacional de Migraciones after arrival. As with all Peru visa categories, the decision to grant a Student Visa rests solely with the competent Consular Office or Migraciones.
