This is the Airport Transit Visa (Type A), and it only permits the holder to stay within the airport’s international transit zone. As Slovenia is a full Schengen member, it applies the common Schengen list of nationalities requiring an Airport Transit Visa under Annex IV of the Visa Code. If your connection requires leaving the transit area, clearing passport control, or otherwise entering Slovenian territory, a standard Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) is required instead. Eligibility
You may need a Slovenia Airport Transit Visa (Type A) if:
- Your nationality is listed under the common Schengen Annex IV list as requiring an Airport Transit Visa.
- You intend to remain within the international transit zone of a Slovenian airport and do not plan to leave it or clear passport control.
You do not need an Airport Transit Visa if you:
- Already hold a valid Schengen visa, a residence permit issued by an EU/EEA/Schengen member state, or another recognised exemption.
- Are a family member of a Slovenian, EU, or EEA national travelling with the requisite documentation.
- Hold a diplomatic passport, in most cases, or fall under another recognised exemption category.
If you need to leave the transit area, or your connection is not covered by the exemptions above, you need a standard Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) instead.
