Hungary Business Visa (Schengen Business Visa)
The Hungary Business Visa is a Schengen short-stay visa (Category C) issued by the Consular Service of Hungary’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade to foreign nationals travelling for business purposes. According to official guidance, business applicants should present a letter of support from the company they are visiting in the Schengen country, along with a letter from their own employer confirming their position and the reason for the business trip; either letter should clarify who is responsible for expenses and where the applicant will be staying. Since Hungary has been a Schengen member since December 2007, a Hungarian Business Visa is generally valid for travel throughout the entire Schengen Area. As with all Hungary Visa categories, the final decision on approval rests solely with the competent Hungarian consular authorities.
Eligibility
Based on official Consular Service guidance, applicants for a Business Visa must generally:
- Be a foreign national travelling to Hungary for a business-related purpose, and a citizen of a country whose nationals require a Schengen visa.
- Hold a valid travel document containing at least 2 blank pages, valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure from the Schengen Area, and issued within the previous 10 years.
- Lodge the application within 6 months of the intended visit.
- Provide a letter of support from the Hungarian company being visited, and a letter from their own employer confirming their position and the purpose of the trip.
- Hold travel medical insurance valid for the Schengen Area, with minimum coverage of EUR 30,000.

Hungary Visa Processing Time
According to official guidance and the EU Visa Code, standard Schengen visa applications, including for business purposes, are generally decided within 15 calendar days of submission. This can extend up to 30 days in individual cases, and up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in exceptional circumstances. Applicants should apply well in advance of their planned business trip and book an appointment early, as applications must be lodged in person.
