Step-by-Step Application Process

Confirm the correct Hungarian mission or Visa Application Centre for your application, based on your main destination or the country where you will spend the most nights.
Complete the Schengen visa application form, available at konzuliszolgalat.kormany.hu/visa-application-forms.
Gather your supporting documents, including hotel reservations, insurance, and flight details.
Book an appointment in advance to avoid long waiting times, as applications must be lodged in person.
Attend your appointment, submit your documents, and provide biometric data (photo and fingerprints).
Pay the applicable visa fee.
Await the decision (standard timeline: 15 days, extendable up to 45 days).
Collect your passport with the visa sticker once a decision has been made.

Important Notes

A Hungary Tourist Visa is a Schengen visa, generally valid for the entire Schengen Area, permitting stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
If visiting multiple Schengen countries, apply where you will spend the most nights, or at your first point of entry if the length of stay is equal across countries.
Applications must generally be lodged in person; there is no option to submit applications online.
Visa fees are non-refundable, even if the application is refused.
Providing misleading information (such as modifying or cancelling a confirmed reservation) during or after the approval process can result in automatic annulment of the visa.
A visa stamp is only a preliminary permission for entering the country and does not automatically guarantee entry; travellers may be asked to prove they meet entry conditions at the border.
Nationals of India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and Bhutan require a valid Schengen (C) visa to enter Hungary for a short stay.

2. How much does a Hungary Tourist Visa cost?

3. How long does it take to process a Hungary Tourist Visa?
Standard processing is 15 calendar days, though this can extend up to 45 days in certain cases requiring further scrutiny.

If you mislead Hungarian authorities — for example, by modifying or cancelling a reservation used to support your application — your Schengen visa application, or an already-issued visa, may be automatically annulled.
