For nationals of countries subject to Brazil’s mandatory e-Visa reciprocity requirement (including the United States, Canada, and Australia), business travel is instead processed through the Visit Visa (VIVIS) e-Visa system. As with all Brazil Visa categories, the final decision on approval rests solely with the competent Brazilian consular authorities.
Eligibility
Based on official Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidance, applicants for a Business Visa must generally:
- Be a foreign national travelling to Brazil for commercial contacts, short-term business trips, negotiating or evaluating investment opportunities, or attending business meetings — not for providing services in Brazil, which requires a Work Visa instead.
- Hold a passport valid for at least 6 months, containing at least 4 blank visa pages (for VITEM II applications).
- Not be entering to engage in any paid activity under an employment contract with a Brazilian entity.
- For e-Visa-eligible nationalities: apply for the business purpose under the Visit Visa (VIVIS) e-Visa system instead of the traditional VITEM II route.
- Provide a photocopy of a round-trip ticket to Brazil, or a confirmed ticket reservation with flight numbers, dates, and itinerary.

For traditional VITEM II applications submitted through a Brazilian Embassy or Consulate, processing timelines vary by mission; in some jurisdictions, regulations may require the Embassy to request prior authorisation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brazil before the visa can be issued, which can extend processing.
