Vietnam Business Visa
The Vietnam Business Visa, symbolised DN1 and DN2 under Vietnam’s Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners, is issued to foreign nationals travelling to Vietnam for business-related purposes. According to official classification, a DN1 visa is issued to foreigners working with enterprises or other organisations that hold legal status under Vietnamese law, while a DN2 visa is issued to foreigners entering Vietnam to offer services, establish a commercial presence, or carry out other activities under international treaties to which Vietnam is a signatory. Business Visas can be obtained as an e-Visa (for eligible nationalities and qualifying business purposes), a Visa on Arrival, or a traditional visa through a Vietnamese Embassy or Consulate. As with all Vietnam Visa categories, the final decision on approval rests solely with the Vietnam Immigration Department.
Eligibility
Based on official Vietnamese government sources, applicants for a Business Visa (DN1/DN2) must generally:
- Be a foreign national travelling to Vietnam to work with, or provide services or a commercial presence for, a Vietnamese enterprise or organisation.
- Hold a passport valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended entry date.
- Provide an invitation, sponsorship, or approval letter from the Vietnamese enterprise or organisation, obtained through the Vietnam Immigration Department (except in certain e-Visa cases).
- Not fall under any category of persons prohibited from entering Vietnam under the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners.
Government Visa Fees
Under Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance Circular No. 28/2026/TT-BTC (effective April 1, 2026), the standard government fee for Business Visas processed through the e-Visa system follows the general visa fee schedule:
| Fee Type | Amount |
| Single-Entry Business Visa | USD 25 (e-Visa route) |
| Multiple-Entry Business Visa (up to 90 days) | USD 50 (e-Visa route) |
| Traditional Business Visa (embassy/consulate, various durations) | Approximately USD 35–145, depending on validity and entry type |
| INR Equivalent | Information may vary depending on the visa category and individual circumstances |
Fees are non-refundable regardless of the outcome. Applicants should confirm the exact current fee with the Vietnam Immigration Department or the relevant Vietnamese Embassy/Consulate, as amounts vary depending on the entry type, duration, and application channel.
Vietnam Visa Processing Time
According to official guidance, Business Visa applications submitted through the e-Visa system follow the standard 3 working day processing timeline prescribed under Vietnam’s Immigration Law. Business Visas processed through the traditional route — requiring a sponsoring Vietnamese enterprise to obtain an approval letter from the Immigration Department before the applicant applies at an embassy or consulate — can take longer, as the approval letter itself must first be issued. Applicants should coordinate closely with their Vietnamese business sponsor and apply well in advance of their planned travel date.
