The eVisitor, Subclass 651, is a free electronic Australia Visa available to passport holders from European Union countries and several other eligible European nations, including the United Kingdom. It allows travel to Australia as often as needed within a 12-month period, with each stay limited to up to three months, for tourism or business visitor purposes, and permits short courses of up to three months. Unlike the ETA, the eVisitor is applied for online through ImmiAccount rather than a mobile app, and there is no charge at all, not even a service fee. The eVisitor does not permit paid work in Australia. Approval is decided solely by the Department of Home Affairs.

If an application hasn’t been processed within about two weeks, it likely requires manual review, in which case applicants should contact the Department of Home Affairs for an update or consider whether a Subclass 600 application would be more appropriate. Because the eVisitor is linked to a specific passport, renewing your passport invalidates the existing eVisitor, requiring a new (still free) application before travel.
