The Lithuania Transit Visa applies to foreign nationals who need to pass through Lithuania, or through the international transit area of a Lithuanian airport, en route to a third country. As Lithuania is part of the Schengen area, an Airport Transit Visa (Category A) is required only for nationals of specific countries listed under EU regulations, allowing them to remain within the international transit area of a Lithuanian airport without formally entering the Schengen area. Travellers who need to enter Lithuanian territory briefly during a longer layover generally require a standard Schengen short-stay Category C visa instead, valid for transit through or an intended stay in the Schengen area of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. As with all Lithuania visa categories, the decision to approve a Transit Visa application rests solely with the competent Lithuanian Diplomatic Mission or the Migration Department.
