Czech Republic Cultural, Sports & Conference Visa
The Czech Republic Cultural, Sports & Conference Visa covers three related Schengen short-stay visa (Category C) purposes published separately by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: Culture, Sports, and Conference. According to the Ministry’s official portal, a Culture-purpose Schengen visa application should be filed when travelling for an artistic performance, festival participation, religious event, or other short-term culture and art-related activity; a Sports-purpose visa is for a sports competition, game, championship, training, or other sports-related activity; and a Conference-purpose visa is for those attending a conference, which may in turn be classified as business, culture, official visit, or other, depending on the nature of the event. As a Schengen state, this visa permits short-term travel of up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the Schengen Area. As with all Czech Republic Visa categories, the final decision on approval rests solely with the competent Czech consular authorities.
Eligibility
Based on official Ministry of Foreign Affairs guidance, applicants for a Cultural, Sports, or Conference Visa must generally:
- Be a foreign national travelling to the Czech Republic to participate in, or attend, an artistic performance, festival, religious event, sports competition, championship, training, or conference.
- Hold a passport valid for at least 90 days beyond the applicant’s last day of stay in the Schengen territory, with at least 2 blank visa pages.
- Provide evidence of the specific purpose of stay, such as an invitation from the organiser, event registration, or participation confirmation.
- Provide a document proving intention to leave the Schengen Area.
- Where relevant: representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 or under participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural, or educational events organised by non-profit organisations may qualify for fee exemption.

Processing Time
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the EU Visa Code, standard Schengen visa applications for cultural, sports, or conference purposes are generally decided within 15 calendar days of submission. This can be extended up to 30 days in individual cases, and up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in exceptional circumstances. Applicants attending time-sensitive events (festivals, competitions, or conferences with fixed dates) should apply as early as possible, ideally several weeks in advance, to allow for standard processing and any unforeseen delays.
