Vietnam eVisa
The Vietnam eVisa is an electronic visa issued by the Vietnam Immigration Department, under the Ministry of Public Security, through the official National Portal on Immigration. According to the portal, an eVisa is one of the visa types issued to foreigners via an electronic system, valid for a maximum of 90 days, for either single or multiple entry. Foreigners currently outside Vietnam can apply personally for an eVisa, or have a requesting agency or organisation apply on their behalf; the eVisa is not available to foreigners who are already temporary residents inside Vietnam. The eVisa can be used for a range of purposes, including tourism, business, and visiting family or friends, and is accepted at Vietnam’s approved international checkpoints. As with all Vietnam Visa categories, the final decision on approval rests solely with the Vietnam Immigration Department.
Eligibility
Based on the official National Portal on Immigration, applicants for a Vietnam eVisa must generally:
- Be a foreign national currently outside Vietnam.
- Hold a passport valid for at least six (6) months beyond the intended entry date.
- Not fall under any of the entry-suspension categories specified in Article 21 of Vietnam’s Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners.
- Be a national of a country on the government’s approved eVisa-eligible list.
- Intend to enter and exit through one of Vietnam’s approved eVisa checkpoints.
Government Visa Fees
Under Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance Circular No. 28/2026/TT-BTC (effective April 1, 2026):
| Fee Type | Amount |
| Single-Entry eVisa | USD 25 |
| Multiple-Entry eVisa | USD 50 |
| INR Equivalent | Information may vary depending on the visa category and individual circumstances |
The eVisa fee is paid via the official electronic payment gateway prescribed by the Immigration Department at the time of application, and is non-refundable if the application is refused.
Vietnam Visa Processing Time
According to Vietnam’s Immigration Law, the prescribed processing time for an eVisa is 3 working days after the application is completed and the fee is paid. Applicants are advised to apply at least several days in advance of their travel date to allow for this processing window and any unforeseen delays. Results are not emailed automatically; applicants must check their application status on the official portal.
