Poland Transit Visa
The Poland Transit Visa covers travellers who need to remain in the international transit area of a Polish airport while awaiting a connecting flight, without formally entering the Schengen area. This is known as the Airport Transit Visa (Type A), and it only permits the holder to stay within the airport’s transit zone — it does not authorise entry into Poland or the wider Schengen Area. Whether an Airport Transit Visa is required depends on the applicant’s nationality: Poland requires it for citizens of Afghanistan, Armenia, Bangladesh, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Cuba, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, and Sri Lanka, in addition to certain general exemption rules. If your connection requires leaving the transit area, changing airports, or otherwise entering Polish territory, a standard Schengen short-stay visa (Type C) is required instead. As with every Poland Visa category, the final decision on approval rests solely with the Polish consulate or consular section of the embassy.

Poalnd Transit Visa Processing Time
The consul will generally make a decision on an Airport Transit Visa application within 15 calendar days. In exceptional cases, this period can be extended to 30 or 60 days. Since transit visas are tied to specific flight connections, applicants should submit their application well ahead of their travel date to avoid disruption to their onward journey.
Required Documents Checklist
Requirements are streamlined given the visa’s narrow, short-stay purpose, but confirmed onward flight details are essential.
