Oman eVisa
The Oman eVisa is the Sultanate’s official electronic visa system, introduced in 2018 and managed by the Royal Oman Police (ROP) through the portal evisa.rop.gov.om. It covers multiple purposes, including tourism, family and friends visits, and short business meetings, and eliminated the traditional in-person, paper-based visa process — as of the platform’s rollout, all tourist and express visa applications must be completed online, with no service desk option at the airport. Citizens of over 100 countries can apply, and GCC residents in approximately 116 approved professions can also apply under a separate pathway. For many Indian applicants, eligibility for the standard eVisa depends on holding a valid visa or residence permit from the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, a Schengen country, or Japan, or holding GCC residency in an approved profession. Final approval rests solely with the Royal Oman Police.
Eligibility
To apply for the Oman eVisa, applicants generally must:
- Be a citizen of one of the eligible countries listed on the official ROP eVisa portal
- Hold a passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry
- Provide a confirmed hotel reservation and return flight ticket
- Hold health insurance covering the stay in Oman
- Show sufficient financial means
- For many Indian applicants: hold a valid visa or residence permit for the US, Canada, Australia, UK, Schengen area, or Japan (valid for more than 3 months), or hold GCC residency with an approved profession
GCC residents applying under the profession-based pathway must supply their valid Civil Number or Company Register Number, as applicable, during sponsor/applicant registration.
