The Cyprus Tourist Visa allows foreign nationals to visit the Republic of Cyprus for sightseeing, holidays, or leisure. Cyprus is an EU member state but is not yet part of the Schengen Area, so the Cyprus Tourist Visa is a national visa, currently valid only for entry into the Republic of Cyprus rather than the wider Schengen zone — though its procedures, documentation, and fee structure have been closely harmonised with the Schengen system. Conveniently, Cyprus unilaterally recognises valid double or multiple-entry Schengen (Type C) visas, as well as valid Type D visas or residence permits from most EU/Schengen states (excluding the UK and Ireland), meaning many travellers who already hold one of these do not need a separate Cyprus visa at all. As with every Cyprus Visa category, the final decision on approval rests solely with the Cyprus diplomatic mission, consulate, or the Civil Registry and Migration Department.
Eligibility
You may apply for a Cyprus Tourist Visa if:
- You intend to visit Cyprus purely for tourism, sightseeing, or leisure.
- Your stay will not exceed 90 days within a 180-day period.
- You can demonstrate sufficient financial means, confirmed accommodation, and an intention to return to your home country.
- Your passport remains valid for a period covering your intended stay in Cyprus.
If you already hold a valid multiple or double-entry Schengen visa, or a Type D visa/residence permit from an EU or Schengen state (other than the UK or Ireland), you may be able to enter Cyprus without applying for a separate Cyprus visa — check current requirements before applying.
