Argentina Tourist Visa

The Argentina Tourist Visa is a transitory Argentina Visa for travellers visiting for holidays, sightseeing, or general leisure purposes, for stays of up to 90 days. Under a bilateral agreement between India and Argentina, tourist visas for Indian nationals are issued completely free of charge, unlike most other nationalities who pay the standard consular fee. Additionally, since Resolution 353/2025 (effective 28 August 2025), Indian citizens holding a valid and current U.S. visa in the B1/B2, B2, J, B1, O, P (P1, P2, P3), E, or H-1B category, or a U.S. Green Card, can enter Argentina for tourism purposes for up to 90 days without needing any Argentine consular visa or Electronic Travel Authorization (AVE) at all. This exemption applies strictly to tourism and does not permit a change of immigration status while in Argentina. Travellers without a qualifying U.S. visa must still apply for the free consular Tourist Visa in advance. Approval is decided solely by the Argentine consulate or the National Immigration Directorate (Dirección Nacional de Migraciones).

Eligibility

You may apply for an Argentina Tourist Visa if:

  • You are travelling to Argentina for tourism, sightseeing, leisure holidays, or recreational purposes.
  • You are not travelling to Argentina for employment, business activities, or long-term study.
  • You intend to stay only for the duration permitted under your tourist visa.
  • You hold a valid passport with sufficient validity from the date of entry into Argentina.
  • You can provide proof of confirmed accommodation, return or onward travel, and a planned travel itinerary.
  • You have sufficient financial means to support yourself during your stay in Argentina.
  • You satisfy the visa requirements prescribed by the Argentine immigration authorities.

If tourism is the primary purpose of your visit, it should take precedence over any other reason (such as visiting friends or attending business meetings) when preparing your supporting documents, as the purpose of travel determines the documentation required for your Argentina Tourist Visa application.

Government Visa Fees

Fee TypeGovernment Fee
Consular Tourist Visa (Indian Nationals, under bilateral agreement)Free
Entry with Valid U.S. Visa or Green Card (Resolution 353/2025, tourism only)No Visa/AVE Required

The bilateral fee waiver applies specifically to Indian and Moroccan nationals at several Argentine consulates. Applicants requiring a special Travel Certificate (in place of a passport, for select nationalities) may still incur a separate fee. Information may vary depending on individual circumstances; confirm current details with the Argentine Embassy or Consulate serving your region.

Argentine Visa Processing Time

For Indian applicants without a qualifying U.S. visa, standard consular Tourist Visa processing generally takes several working days to a few weeks once a complete application is submitted, though this varies by consulate and application volume. Applicants are strongly advised to submit their application at least 4 weeks before their intended travel date, since applications made within 10 days of departure are typically not accepted. For Indian nationals holding a valid qualifying U.S. visa or Green Card, there is no visa processing wait at all, since Resolution 353/2025 allows direct entry without a consular visa or AVE, provided the traveller’s documents meet the entry conditions at the port of entry.
