Malaysia eNTRI Visa

eNTRI (Electronic Travel Registration and Information) is an online registration facility introduced by the Government of Malaysia to facilitate short visits by nationals of specific countries, most notably India and China, under a visa waiver programme. An eNTRI Note is issued as proof of registration and must be presented upon arrival in Malaysia. Historically, eNTRI was the primary short-stay facility for Indian nationals visiting Malaysia for tourism or business. However, Indian passport holders currently benefit from a broader visa waiver that allows visa-free entry for tourism, business, social, and transit purposes for up to 30 days — a longer duration than eNTRI’s 15-day allowance — valid until 31 December 2026. As a result, eNTRI remains most relevant to nationalities that are eligible for it but do not qualify for the broader waiver, or in scenarios where the waiver does not apply. As with every Malaysia Visa category, the final decision on entry rests solely with the Immigration Department of Malaysia.

Eligibility

You may use the Malaysia eNTRI facility if:

  • You are a national of a country currently eligible for eNTRI (historically including Indian and Chinese passport holders).
  • You are travelling to Malaysia for tourism or business purposes only.
  • Your intended stay does not exceed 15 days.
  • You are entering via a direct flight, or transiting via Singapore, Thailand, or Brunei, through the approved entry and exit points (primarily Kuala Lumpur International Airport, KLIA and KLIA2).
  • You are not residing in Singapore at the time of application, where this exclusion applies.

Each eNTRI application can only be used once, no extensions are allowed, and it cannot be converted into another visa type after arrival.

Government Visa Fees

CategoryApproximate Fee
eNTRI Note (per application)Approximately USD 20 (fees are payable online in the applicable currency)

Fees are non-refundable, whether the application is approved, used, or not used. Applicants should confirm the exact current fee on the official eNTRI application portal before applying, as amounts may be revised.

Malaysia Visa Processing Time

The eNTRI registration process is typically very fast, with many applications approved within minutes to a few hours, and rarely taking longer than 24 hours. This makes it one of the quickest short-stay registration facilities available for eligible nationalities. Applicants should still apply a few days before travel to allow time in case of any issues with the online submission.

Step-by-Step Application Process

Confirm whether eNTRI is the appropriate facility for your nationality and travel purpose, or whether a broader visa waiver already applies to you.
Visit the official eNTRI application facility and select "I'm New" for first-time applicants, or "Returning User" if you have an existing account.
Complete the online registration form with your passport, travel, and accommodation details.
Upload the required passport photograph and supporting documents.
Pay the applicable fee online.
Receive and print the eNTRI Note, which must be presented upon arrival in Malaysia.

Important Notes

eNTRI is valid for tourism and business purposes only, for a maximum stay of 15 days.
No extensions or in-country conversions to another visa type are permitted.
Each application can only be used once; a new application is required for each visit.
Entry and exit must be via the approved points, primarily Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA/KLIA2).
Indian nationals currently benefit from a broader visa waiver (up to 30 days, covering tourism, business, social, and transit purposes) that supersedes the need for eNTRI in most cases, valid until 31 December 2026.
The Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) is a separate, mandatory requirement in addition to the eNTRI Note.
Visa policies are reviewed periodically and are subject to change — always confirm current requirements before travelling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Malaysia eNTRI Visa?
eNTRI (Electronic Travel Registration and Information) is an online registration facility that allows nationals of specific eligible countries to visit Malaysia for tourism or business for up to 15 days, without a full visa application.
Do Indian citizens still need eNTRI to visit Malaysia?
Currently, Indian nationals benefit from a broader visa waiver allowing visa-free entry for up to 30 days for tourism, business, social, and transit purposes, valid until 31 December 2026. This generally makes eNTRI unnecessary for most short trips, though it may still be relevant in specific circumstances.
How long can I stay in Malaysia on an eNTRI Note?
An eNTRI Note permits a maximum stay of 15 days per visit, with no extensions allowed.
Can I convert my eNTRI Note into another visa after arriving in Malaysia?
No. eNTRI cannot be converted into another visa type or extended after arrival. Travellers needing a longer stay or a different visa category must apply for the appropriate visa before travelling.
How much does the Malaysia eNTRI Visa cost?
The eNTRI fee is approximately USD 20, though applicants should confirm the current fee on the official application portal, as amounts may be updated periodically.
